Tremor festival, on the volcanic island of Sao Miguel in the Portuguese Azores, is a forward-thinking and inclusive cultural celebration. Over its six years, Tremor has forged intimate relationships between local and international artists, establishing a hub that allows creatives to collaborate without borders or boundaries. Previous visitors to the stunning Sao Miguel include Ariel Pink, Circuit des Yeux, Beak, Dan Deacon Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Suuns.
Hundreds of local residents, businesses and local governments unite to host performances across 40 venues in and around the capital Ponta Delgada – building a strong sense of community and infectious enthusiasm for experimental music.
The breathtaking green splendour of the island is another star of Tremor. The festival runs on an emphatically conservationist ethos – with a minimal impact on the landscape, and the island itself becoming a stage.
